Spring Reading

Spring has sprung and we are busy reading.  Not just blogs and Twitter streams, but real life books!  With paper! And pages!

Here are some of our favorites:

What We’re Reading

Let’s Panic About Babies, by Alice Bradley and Eden Kennedy.  Two icons of the blogosphere and humorists deliver (!) a book that has more laughs per page than anything out there.

Falling Apart in One Piece by Stacy Morrison.   A divorce memoir that is about so much more.     A can’t-put-down masterpiece. Truly.

I Think I Love You by Allison Pearson. A sparkling, fun, poignant novel about two women who finally get the chance to fulfill their lifelong dream of meeting teen idol David Cassidy. Loved this book.

What Our Children Are Reading

Our Weird School books by Dan Gutman. With titles like Miss Daisy Is Crazy and Mr. Granite Is From Another Planet, my two boys can’t resist these fun, entertaining reads. They’re even coming up with their own ideas for possible book titles.

If your kids liked Pinkalicious, Purplicious and Goldilicious, then they should check out the latest addition by Victoria Kann, Silverlicious (Pinkalicious)!
In this story, Pinkalicious loses her sweet tooth and suddenly candy no longer tastes sweet. Honestly, I can’t think of anything more devastating. So you must read to find out what happens.

Mo Willems has written the last book in his Knuffle Bunny series with Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale. In this heart warming tale (I’m serious), Trixie learns to live without her favorite stuffed toy. The drawings overlapping actual photographs are part of what I adore about these clever books. As usual, Mo Willems gets it right with this wonderful children’s book.

What We Are Looking Forward to Reading:

Bossypants by Tina Fey

Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell

Planting Dandelions: Field Notes From a Semi-Domesticated Life by Kyran Pittman

Sweet Valley High Confidential: 10 Years Later by Francine Prose. WHAT?!
