How Do I Get My Kid To Sleep in His Own Bed?

Dear Mouthy Housewives,

Our son is almost 4 and still sleeps in bed with us; right there between my husband and me. It’s awful. No one’s getting any good sleep, and sex is basically out of the question. How can we gently take back our bed?

My son is 2 & I’ve allowed him in our bed since birth….regretting it slightly. We started putting him in his bed when he fell asleep so he’d wake up in it. Then started putting him in it when he was almost asleep but still awake enough to know whose bed he was in. He still wakes in the middle of the night and crawls into bed with us but it’s becoming less and less often. Perseverance is key and waiting them out doesn’t hurt either. Eventually all kids grow out of it. Most helpful tip I can offer is making his room a place he loves to be. Plaster Mickey all over those walls and get him that bed and bedding he picked out. My 8 yo decided his room was much cooler than ours when I did it for him when he was younger. Good luck & happy napping!
